It is important to realize that errors can occur at any stage of the data flow, including during data cleaning itself.
Go back to previous stages of the data flow to see whether a value is consistently the same.
When deciding upon an approach to data cleaning, it is useful to consider the different types of errors which can be made, and to plan at what point in your data flow (Table 1) you will try to prevent and/or identify them.
